Policy Statement

Freedom College of Excellence is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable environment for all members of the campus community. The College does not discriminate on the basis of:

This policy applies to all aspects of College operations, including admissions, employment, educational programs, services, and activities.

Scope of Policy

This policy covers:

  • Admissions: All prospective students are evaluated based on academic merit and potential;
  • Employment: Hiring, promotion, compensation, benefits, and termination decisions;
  • Academic Programs: Access to courses, majors, research opportunities, and academic resources;
  • Student Services: Housing, financial aid, student organizations, athletics, and campus facilities;
  • College Activities: Events, programs, and sponsored activities.

Legal Compliance

Freedom College complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws prohibiting discrimination, including but not limited to:

  • Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964: Prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin;
  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964: Prohibits employment discrimination;
  • Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972: Prohibits sex-based discrimination in education programs and activities;
  • Age Discrimination Act of 1975: Prohibits age-based discrimination;
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Prohibit disability-based discrimination;
  • Equal Pay Act of 1963: Requires equal pay for equal work regardless of sex;
  • Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA): Prohibits discrimination based on genetic information.

Religious Accommodations

The College respects the religious beliefs and practices of students and employees. Reasonable accommodations for religious observances will be provided when requested, including:

  • Excused absences for religious holidays;
  • Rescheduling of exams or assignments;
  • Adjustments to work schedules (for employees).

Requests for religious accommodations should be made as early as possible to the instructor, supervisor, or Human Resources.

Reporting Discrimination

Students, employees, and visitors who believe they have experienced or witnessed discrimination are encouraged to report the incident. Reports can be made to:

  • Title IX Coordinator: For sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, or sexual misconduct;
  • Human Resources: For employment-related discrimination;
  • Office of Student Affairs: For student-related concerns;
  • Office of the Provost: For academic concerns.

Anonymous Reporting: Reports can be made anonymously, though this may limit the College's ability to investigate and respond.

Investigation and Resolution

All reports of discrimination will be:

  • Taken seriously and investigated promptly;
  • Handled with discretion and confidentiality to the extent possible;
  • Reviewed by trained investigators;
  • Resolved through appropriate remedies, which may include policy changes, training, or disciplinary action.

Prohibition of Retaliation

The College strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who:

  • Files a complaint of discrimination;
  • Participates in an investigation;
  • Opposes discriminatory practices.

Retaliation is a serious violation of this policy and will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination or expulsion.

Disciplinary Action

Individuals found to have engaged in discrimination or harassment are subject to disciplinary action, which may include:

  • Formal warning;
  • Mandatory training;
  • Probation;
  • Suspension;
  • Termination of employment;
  • Expulsion from the College.
