Transfer Student Policy
Purpose
This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for the admission of transfer students and the evaluation of transfer credits at Freedom College of Excellence.
It ensures a smooth transition for students moving from other accredited institutions while maintaining the academic integrity of Freedom College's degree programs.
Policy Statement
Freedom College of Excellence welcomes transfer students and is committed to maximizing the transferability of credits from accredited institutions in accordance with state and federal regulations.
1. Admission Requirements for Transfer Students
Transfer applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Good academic standing at the last institution attended.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (undergraduate) or 2.75 (graduate) on a 4.0 scale.
- Submission of official transcripts from ALL previously attended colleges/universities.
- If fewer than 24 transferable college credits, high school transcripts may be required.
2. Acceptance of Transfer Credits
Credit evaluations are conducted by the Registrar's Office. Credits are generally accepted if:
- The course was completed at a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- The course level and content are comparable to those offered at Freedom College.
- A grade of “C†(2.0) or higher was earned (undergraduate) or “B†(3.0) or higher (graduate).
- The credits do not duplicate previous coursework.
3. Transfer Credit & Financial Aid
Transfer credits are counted as both attempted and completed hours for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) calculations but are not included in the GPA calculation.
This may impact the maximum timeframe for financial aid eligibility (150% rule).
4. Articulation Agreements
Freedom College participates in statewide articulation agreements to facilitate the seamless transfer of general education core curriculum.
Students transferring from partner community colleges with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree may be considered "core complete."
5. International Transfer Credit
Transcripts from institutions outside the U.S. must be evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluation service (e.g., WES, ECE) at the student's expense.
